TRAGEDY IN SOUTH FLORIDA – LITTLE HAITI FC SOCCER CLUB LOSES THREE ANGELS
The 2019 ENIGMA CUP showed its glowing side in receiving over one hundred teams to its second-year event and organizing a very coordinated effort to the satisfaction of all the clubs present. However, on the other hand, our event was deeply marked by the tragedy of three (3) young youth belonging to the Little Haiti FC Soccer Club, who were run over and killed in the early morning hours of the opening day, awaiting the bus which would ultimately bring them to our much anticipated youth soccer tournament in Weston.
These fine youths – brothers Gideon and Lens Desir (ages 13 and 15, respectively) and Richarde Dumay (age 17), were simply making there way to the stop where they were to board the bus which would ultimately take them to Weston, where our tournament was being held. Upon arriving, the coaches and staff noticed that three boys were not present, and calls were frantically made to learn of their absence. Eventually, news was passed on to them, and in order to not affect the teammates, the team played its first match. Upon its conclusion, the boys headed back to Little Haiti, were they were received by all parents, grief counselors, club and City officials and the reality of the unbelievable tragedy that early morning.
All match scores for the Little Haiti FC Soccer Club team were recorded as 0::0, as the rest of the scheduled matches logically were not played in deference to this devastating event.
In the interim, while burial arrangements and memorial ceremonies are being organized, a GoFundMe page has been set up, in order to provide the grieving families with relief for a host of expenses, which will greatly affect the entire process in providing a proper burial and coverage of so many other related expenses.

ENIGMA Cup, through its affiliate club – FUTSOC, has established, in memoriam, the GLR Little Haiti FC Soccer Fund. This fund will provide the Little Haiti FC Soccer Club, with permanent entry into all future editions of ENIGMA CUP at no cost to the club. It is our sincere interest as a club to provide this type of support to this organization, so that those young aspiring players find veritable paths to grow, develop and shine in situations, where potential opportunities might avail themselves for their future development. In memory of these fine youths, the mission must continue on, in serving these at-risk youths of the Little Haiti community.
Rest in peace Gideon, Lens and Richarde, and may your precious souls rest deep within God’s heart for eternity. May God bless them, their families, friends, teammates and the community at large.
The ENIGMA CUP organization, our entire FUTSOC organization, coaches, parents, players, members and the Tamayo Family, express our deepest condolences to the surviving families, friends and the Little Haiti FC Soccer Club.
